Okay guys here's a strange one. Friends's box was working okay then he tells me it's "stuck" on a channel. Then he says the standby button on the front isn't working. I take box back to mine, and there's a few funny problems with it. 1) As soon as you plug the cable feed in, the box will freeze- no response to remote or buttons on front. It then reboots by itself. 2) Without the feed you can move a maximum of 2 channels up or down. The box will then freeze and reboot. 3) Pressing the menu button on the remote reboots the box! (of course it only responses to the remote with no feed plugged in). I have already tried re-flashing with the fixed 257, but the same problem remains. Can't even do a factory reset as can't access the menu. I'm at a loss to explain why it's doing this, and why it developed a fault all of a sudden. Any ideas?
Do you know if its a clone or genuine Count the vents on top 18x7 = Clone 25x7 = Genuine Also you can go here to see some pics http://www.freewebs.com/dooby2oon
Try reflash it again, you can find this 2.57_FIXED in the bottom of my sig (Eamos Library) in the Starvi*w/Firmware folder
Hello there A5hX. I have exactly the same problem- sometimes comes up and I can do a scan etc - other times it lasts only seconds. I'm in Dublin 11 on N**. Just found this link below. Means going in at components.Has anybody tried this? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/563867 see page 3 from Bigalscot. Keep in touch.
Yeah it works alright, I have a few of them to do during the week, it's straight forward and doesn't take too long. If ya need a hand with it, gimme a shout.
So I have to replace the C11 cap? Are they easily obtainable? Is it hard to remove/re-solder? I'm not confident about this, but I'll give it a try...
Many Thanks Myloyams, you gave me the confidence to do this and it works like a dream. THEBOX lives again! I am constantly amazed at the help and useful info that you can get on this forum and the other forums for Replay and Eurovox etc. A5hX , are you in Dublin? if so can I help?
Thanks for the offer kgbryne but I'm in London, so it's a bit of a long walk! I would like to know how you solved our problem though. Always good to learn something new.
