I recently installed RealPlayer mainly because one website I'm trying to view(using Firefox) pops the message that I need a missing plugin(Realplayer) to hear songs in that site. However after installing RealPlayer I am still unable to play music from the site(error message pops-up saying General Error has occurred. RealMedia File Format: Invalid Data Header in file “rhemaband_kindle_the_flame.rm”. The file is unreadable). I am now considering uninstalling RealPlayer but wants to have some of your opinion on the benefits and/or beauty of retaining it. I get it that i can now access free games/movies with it...is it true? I want to rid my harddisk of unnecessary programs. Thanks in advance!
It is a fact that you will need it from time to time. The problem is most likely from the file not the player. I would recommend setting the default player for different file types. That way you only need the player for Real files not Windows(wmv, etc).
Thanks for the reply! Yeah I was thinking on that line that I might have some use for the RealPlayer someday in the future or whenever I encounter some games needing the RealPlayer plugin...that is why I sort of consulted this forum first. Can you give me an idea as to what type of player is best to play as default certain type of file...so I can set mine as per your suggestion? I think I only have Windows Media Player & RealPlayer installed in my pc. Can you suggest any other good player worthy installing and what type of file it's default to play with? Thanks!
