    Hi,

I've had a Acer Travelmate 3230 for 11 months and now it is running slow. I haven't bought any new memory for in, matter of fact I haven't replaced anything on it.

Do you think its the memory running out? any other suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

if it was fast before but slow now then it could be to much stuff loaded in your startup so what amount of ram do you have & what is free? could also be spyware &/or viruses slowing it down so what do you have to get rid of those?

    Virtual Memory

    Free: 853 MB
    Total: 1,228 MB

    Physical Memory

    Free: 287,300 KB
    Total: 515,500 KB
    Used: 44%

Windows task manager says I have 45 processes running.

For virus and spyware, I have AVG which is updated daily. I also use zone alarm firewall. I did have spyware doctor but its expired.

    Thanks mate.

    Simple things to try:
    Uninstall all un-necessary programs
    Defragment the hard disk drive
Go into msconfig (start->run and type msconfig)
go to the startup tab and remove all the applications that aren't necessary (things like the itunes helper, java updates, and so on)

    assuming youre running xp

run all in safe mode after all is installed
and updated & then run in normal mode

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition (never have more than one anti-virus installed at one time)

    EMCO Malware Destroyer

    SUPERAntiSpyware (Free Edition)

    Spyware Terminator

    Spybot - Search and Destroy

    Ad-Aware SE

SpywareBlaster & McAfee SiteAdvisor after cleaning up your computer

these are all free and given my two thumbs up and if i had another hand it would be 3 thumbs

    uninstall antispyware that doesnt update

    found at http://www.snapfiles.com/

giving back what was so freely given to me at afterdawn.com... good luck from zer0ink
