new pc boots 2 or 3 times before starting

    I git a new pc built for me and asked for it with no programs so I could add partitions for windows and dvd progs and free space to burn and store images/dvd files.

    ASUS P5K S775 P35 ATX FSB1333 SND+GLN+U2 SATA2R DDR2

    INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6650 2.3 SKT7754MB

    2048mb DDR2 667mhz

    geforce 860gt

    160GB 8MB CACHE SATA 7200 MAXTOR

    250GB 8MB CACHE SATA 7200 MAXTOR

    standard ATX kit

    I installed XPsp2 then drivers for ASUS and then all other progs.
    The pc works fine but after every restart it gets to the windows screen before icons or tool bar load and boots again.
    After 2 or 3 times it loads up OK.

    any help would be most greatfuly exepted.

    It could be a number of things. Is there anything running at startup? What brand power supply is in the computer, and what is the wattage?

    What brand of memory is in the computer?

    Ms ACPI compliant systeme
    SCSI/RAID host controller
    I think the pc is OK but when I got it I set up XP first and then put the bios disc in could this be the problem and if so can I repair it without having to start all over again
