I ripped a movie with dvd decrypter. When I open DVD Shrink and choose open files, do I have to select all the ifo files in the movie folder? And why doesn't dvd shrink allow you to select all the ifo files at the same time instead of one at a time? Thanks for answering my dumb question......

RoyJones, You don't need decrypter and shrink. Shrink will also decrypt for you. You will need Nero 5.5 or 6 to burn shrink files to blank dvd. If you don't have Nero, Download BURNATONCE which works like Nero. Shrink guides are on this site or go to www.dvdrhelp.com for guides. Jerry

But I don't have the original dvd anymore only the files I ripped. Can I still use DVD Shrink with just the files?

Roy, You may not have much luck getting the files u made with decrypter into Shrink. Are they in a folder on your hard drive? If so select "open files", browse for your folder then click on it. It should appear in the look in box with a few files in the window below. There should be a VIDEO_TS with some VTS_0#_0 files. Select open and Shrink should begin to analyze them.

Hi RoyJones
I find my flexability to select the parts of the movie I wish to burn is greater by using DVD Decypter to rip the movie to a ISO file then mount the movie to a image drive such as Nero's Image Drive then have DVD Shrink do its magic to reduce it to one disc. It takes me about 10 to 15 mins to rip, another 10 to 15 minutes to reauthor and 15 to 20 minutes to burn to a disk with Nero. In less than an hour I have a finished disc for my kids to watch.

PS You can only back up the movies you own

To clear up any confusion, use my guides for DVD Shrink and other great software for backing up DVDs.

it doesnt matter if you don't have the original dvd anymore. If you decrypted onto your hard drive and have ifo, bup and VOB on your hard drive then this is what you do.

Open DVD Shrink. click open files. find the correct folder. click on the video_ts.ifo file. That should load up the whole movie to handle it like you had opened up the dvd. If you click on the other ifo's you will only get the vobs that go with those ifo's.
