I've been getting a run time error and the 0003 buffer error according to how I process the input files. Using AnyDVD and DVDFab Decrypter leads to a buffer error. Process the files with FixVTS and I get a run time error. If I use the old trick of processing through Shrink, I still get a run time error. I successfully used DVDFab Platinum to make a watchable backup of Live Free or Die Hard. Only one scene had a frame appear to hang for a couple seconds. I've run out of things to try. The release has interleaving if that makes a difference and the failure usually occurs in the Rebuild segment.

I just finished the region 1 version of Live Free or Die Hard using Ripit4Me and DVD Rebuilder pro with no issues. I have been having some problems with the ripped files from DVDFab going through Shrink or Rebuilder. Is your disc the one with the un-rated and theatrical releases?

Yes. I'm not sure if I got the RipIt4Me to work or not. I did this one so many ways. The transcoders I tried worked after processing with FixVTS. RB is the only program I can't get to finish the task.

There seems to be some debate about which program is causing the trouble, here are a couple of threads to check out

    Source Corrupt Using DVD Rebuilder

    Error? Message when rebuilding

    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=132108

All I know is that for me Ripit4Me had no problems with this movie. The files were ran through Rebuilder in movie and menu only mode with no issues, when ripping the same disc with Fab Rebuilder gives errors in the rebuild phase. Hopefully between Jdobbs and Fengtao they will get this fixed.

My issues were with Full DVD. With a single version and menus the compression is at 89%. No need for an encoder at that level. As I mentioned, there is no problem with the transcoders.

I haven't had any problems with it. I used AnyDVD to strip the protection and Imgburn to rip the image, then I burned it to a dual layer DVD with Imgburn and it plays fine.

How is that relevant to a discussion about a Rebuilder problem? I've got the backup, I just can't do Full DVD with RB.

i'm still having problems with POTC3 and DVD Rebuilder, am participating in 3 threads over at cdfreaks, have hit a wall with regards to DVDFab, most fingers are pointing at DVD Rebuilder (which i don't fully agree with btw), DVD Shrink (and i think other transcoders) work fine but still Rebuilder is being called the culprit; shame, especially as the nasty protections in the latest few movies are in effect only partly beaten which can only mean more problems as more newer movies come along, 'fraid i can see myself going down the AnyDVD route at this rate

And geez, no need to be so snippy, stress will be the end of you.

I'm with you. I don't think it's all RB's fault. But... and that's a big but, it's failing when some of the other programs are working. Some of the software programs have recently been updated though. No doubt it's new copy protection with some of the newly releaseed DVDs. The program was working with most of the previous releases. Looks like it's time for JDOBBS to do an update. What I'd really like to see is a decryption program that can completely clean up the source files so any program can process them without problems.

I wasn't trying to be snippy, I just asked the relevance as a reminder of what the thread topic was. I was curious to see if anything was being done about RB. There was no interest in "can the backup be done", but with "why can't the backup be done with RB". Other than Creaky commenting on his findings, the forum doesn't seem to be too active lately.

I didn't mean to "put a burr under your saddle". As for the stress, I don't think doing DVD backups will do me in. I actually go looking for DVDs said to be more difficult. Some people like puzzles, I sometimes see getting things done with a PC as puzzling. To each his own games. When I'm doing backups and research it's more like entertainment. I meant no offense.

    No offense taken. :D

I actually noticed a correlation between you and fixing problematic DVDs, it was first noted with Saw 3, you had the solution to everyones problem there. (I lurk a lot in all the forums)

LOL Guilty as charged. ;) Sometimes we need to use the software creatively while waiting for software authors to update for new copy protections. It pays to have several options when it comes to software and trying to back up new videos on release day.

I can do this movie [full version]other ways but I can't do it through rebuilder. It seems like Rebuilder is finding something other programs are missing. I even tried the free version of Rebuilder and that sent me back to the pro version.Only good thing on the free version maybe had 8 minutes before it sent me to the Pro version. Chris Edit all my roads lead to RB.

I was able to get the full movie to go through Rebuilder using Ripit4Me to rip the files. The latest DVDFab still makes Rebuilder fail during the rebuild phase.

I was thinking of buying this movie, any good by the way? I liked the others... Anyway
I've read about this both here and in the other links given by wolfmanz(thanks). Someone please breakdown to this dummy, what RI4Me does differently than others? I mean it rips, then cleans with fixVTS, and if other people finish with DVD-RB they arent using the shrink part so whats different? Other rippers with not only FixVts but also VobBlanker havent worked, but DVDDecrypter and the PSL plugins have.
Once again, what have I missed?

    I thought it was good

From what I have gotten out of the other threads the problem with Fab is the way the corrupted cells are dealt with during the rip they are not as compliant as the files ripped with Ripit4Me. Hopefully between Jdobbs and Fengtao they will get this issue worked out soon.
