lens cleaning?

    should you try a lens cleaner on a dvd player? i have a 2 yr. old apex starting to freeze on burns and originals. i know apex= garbage but i have always wondered about the lens cleaners (disk with brushes).
    couldn't they know the laser out of alignment? anyone got any insight
