Ok, i am a major user of skype and what not, and my computer has to ports at the front, for microphone and headphones, along with two USB ports. Since i got my computer my microphone has been fine, but suddenly it just stopped transmitting clearly, it just gives of high pitched and muffled sounds when i speak. I tried a different microphone and then bought a third but still the same thing? anything wrong with my computer or do i just need it checked out at a shop? i assume theres a problem with my jack on the front, although i have used the jack on the back and the problem is the same.
All help is appreciated. sorry if this is an "off" topic.

it sounds like a problem with your sound card, you can buy a new PCI sound card for very little these days. Plug your microphone into that.

By the way, your signature's much too large (over 400KB). Signatures at afterdawn should be 50KB or less.

You can check if your mic boost is ticked or unticked. Try play with the microphone setting. Have you tried talking to someone with another program like yahoo messenger or windows live messenger ?

Have you tried talking over yahoo messenger or windows live messenger ? If its the same thing then its probably the sound card as sammorris said.

Well, yes, there may still be a fault with your microphone or sound card.

Try using a different microphone. If the problem remains it's either a fault with your sound drivers or a hardware fault with the sound board.

Tood, edit your sig to conform to forum specs ASAP. yours is 451,391 bytes.
    2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.
