PC is restarting

    Hey, guys wanted to know if you can help. My sister's pc is restarting randomly. I switched the power supply and it still does it. I heard it can be a virus or problem with windows xp but it sometimes turns off then back on before it even boots windows.

    faulty RAM probably.

    check the can shaped silver topped capacitors on the motherboard that they are not domed as they are supposed to be flat topped.

    I have had this problem. From what i know it could be your RAM or your SMPS (Power supply thing). If you have by chance hit your PC case or dropped it could case this problem. I just bought a new case and the problem was over.

    It can be your: CPU, CPU Fan (Dirty or Old), Faulty Hardware (Check PCI Slots), Virus, Corrupted OS, Power Supply. Good Luck!

    Oh forgot, Try updating the BIOS.

    SSDrifter, edit your sig to conform to forum specs ASAP. 173,260 bytes, 800x115 pixels.
    2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.

    Thanks guys, I'll take all in to consideration. I dont live with my sister so I'll have to find out what the problem is next time i visit her. Now at least I can try to trouble shoot with the info. you guys gave me thanks. My dad is talking about buying a laptop for her lol. that girl is only 11 yrs. old damn is she spoiled. She might mess that up too.

    Heh, I got my first PC when I was 11, didn't get another until I was nearly 16. Still, I made do..
