did i pick a halfway good one for her? she will only use it for surfing the net and email and such... now i might try and burn on it now and then..lol

what all type of things will i need with a laptop? it is wireless with the b/g wireless card installed will i need to get the bigger N wireless card to go with it to range farther? plus im gonna get a wireless router for it to hook up with my home computer.

any help info or anyother type stuff i might need will be greatly appreciated...

    thank you

That laptop looks to be perfect for regular use. Since it comes with vista, a duel core processor and 2GB of ram are a necessary, and that laptop has it. Although the graphics card is pretty weak, I don't think your wife would be doing any intense gaming on it so I wouldn't worry about that.

As for the wireless card, the card that comes with the laptop should be fine. If the router puts out a strong signal, then the laptop should be able to pick it up easily.

Well wireless N routers are currently the best out there. I am not sure what kind you would need for a ranch, but I do know that it is possible to connect 2 of them together and have 2x the range.

You just need a wireless card, which almost all laptops come with now, and a wireless access point.

looking at the one gotbeer posted, that seems to have it all then so there wouldnt need to buy a bigger/better wirelss card to travel with? the one in it should do fine? and if all else fails you could hook up via eithernet cable right T10/100
