@sappy2ya...here you go this should show you how to make an iso image file from the PSP_GAME folder and UMD_DATA.BIN file...
how to convert the "PSP_GAME" folder and "UMD_DATA.BIN" file back to an ISO image file so here it is:

you will need a program called "VcdromX"...you can google it or you can get it from the link in my sig....you WILL need this program...download it and once you extract it...look for an icon called "VcdromX"...(I'm going to use Fifa as an example in this guide) open this file up and a window will pop up on the screen type in "C:\Fifa" and make sure that the "FCD" button is checked...now click the left "??" on the bottom..now go to the folder where you have the "PSP_GAME" and "UMD_DATA.BIN" files\folders and DRAG them over to the right side of the "VcdromX" window...once this is done go to the top left corner and look for a box marked "??F", click on this and then go down to where it says "????(B)" click on this..a window will pop up click "OK"...this will start to convert this file to an ".FCD" file...now once this is done go back to the top left corner and to the "??F" box..this time go down to where it says "??????C"..this will bring up another pop up window click on the folder icon on the top box and go to the C:\ and look for the file labeled "Fifa.FCD"...now click open or double click on that file and it will put that name in the pop up window that showed up...now click on the top right box ( next to the folder looking icon) labeled "??" and it will start to create an iso image file for you...you will have to close this window out because it will stay stuck on 100% once finished..but once it reaches 100% it is ok to close it...

a ripkit is really nothing more than the stripped down version of a game...usually it has had either the music, cutscenes, sound effects, all the previous, or a combination of the previous options removed from the game...ripkits will generally shrink a game down significantly...i still prefer using the original iso image files...you can also shrink a game down with the YA umd Iso shrinker...this prog will generally just shrink the game and not actually take anything out of the game...this is the back up program i usually use if i need to shrink a game down, without taking anything out of the game...however the shrinker will not generally shrink the game down that much...

i will post a guide for the pspaint and pspweather for you later...sorry man...hope the previous has helped i will be back later to finish this up for you, holla ;)

@evnflow

First off I would like to thank you for being so helpful.

Ok, so far I have got fastloader running and downloaded "vcdromx" but I am having trouble with the iso and umd_data.bin. The thing is I'm not sure what I have to do with the iso. I'm not sure if I even have an Iso so what should I be looking for. Here is what my PSP_Game file looks like:

UMDEMULATOR-EBOOT.PBP
UMDEMULATOR%-EBOOT.PBP
ISO-Mercury-EBOOT.PBP
-Mercury%-EBOOT.PBP
core.bin
menu.bmp

I got the mercury eboot.pbp from the link in my previous message ( http://hroo772.hopto.org:8181/psp-launchers/ ) I assumed these were iso files. I also was succesful in getting lumines to start but then get the message ("CTL.PRXAnd" and a few seconds later it says "CTL.PRXAnd now...Game")

All your help has and continues to be greatly appreciated and I think I speak on behalf of everyone.

@willsinc...hey man..the Mercury eboot files aren't the actual ISO file they are used for launching the game(in the PSP_GAME folder and UMD_DATA.BIN file way)...you will actually need to find the ISO file for this game, check your PM's ;) , so basically you need to scrap what you have now for that file...it looks like someone uploaded there actual PSP\GAME directory somewhere, you don't want to use someone else's files...you want your's to be clean, so i suggest you download Fastloader V0.08(AKA UMDEMULATOR) and the ISO for mercury(maybe called Archer Maclean's mercury)....the PSP_GAME folder that you have listed doesn't have any of the files you need for this game...when you get the iso file and Fastloader V0.08 follow the directions provided on PAGE 5 for the installation of Fastloader V0.08 and place the ISO image file of Mercury in the respective folder(the UMDEMULATOR\ISO folder)...if you need anymore help, just ask...good luck, holla ;)

@evnflow: thanx for your help.... the games with hookboot are succesfully converted to iso, but I can't get the other games to work. I used just any umd_data.bin file but when starting the game with umdemulator it says: Disc could not be read. I did some searching and I found that with these games the boot.bin files were modified and I probably need the original boot.bin file to get it to work. But unfortunaly I don't have them and can't find them. So I'll just have to play these games the old way :( Anyway thanx for your help!

iksboks...what game are you trying to play and i will see if i can find a match for you...the UMD_DATA.BIN files are the security codes for the games...most of the first games used the same codes, some have changed let me know what game you want to play and i will see if i can find you a suitable match for that game(won't be able to send it too you) but can let you know what UMD_DATA.BIN files will work with which games...

back again :)
I have a question. Should I still use fastloader v7. or should I use PSP Fast Loader v 0.8 AKA UMD Emulator? I couldn't figure out yet, if the v0.8 is the newest version of fastloader or it's a new emulator.
So what do u think?
THX!

it's the newest version of fastloader...and it's a umd emulator...it works off of the ram on your psp instead of the flash...that's why whenever you put the psp in sleep mode the game doesn't freeze up anymore(like on the previous fastloaders), whenever you take it out of the sleep mode...i like it better...but it does have a UMD dumper like on Fastloader V0.07..i have both on my psp(fastloader V0.07 and fastloader V0.08), just in case i want to make a dump(backup iso) of the umd i have in my psp...

a dump is basically the game being taken(dumped) from the UMD and actually placed onto your memory card(providing you have enough room on your memory card to hold the ISO)...and it will put the game as an ISO on your memory stick...it's a means of backing up your game..you can then take that iso and play it with fastloader or put it on your comp, as a backup

@sappy2ya...on the genesis emulator you were talking about...you put system.fnt file in with the genesis folder on your psp\game directory, right?...if you didn't the emulator will load up but not show you the game's name...and the game rom will go in the Genesis folder also...

damn you all have been busy since i've been away...j\k...hey everyone, ok let's see what's going on...

@iksboks...ok for those games you are going to need the PSP_GAME folder and the UMD_DATA.BIN file for each game...ok since you have them you will need to download a program called "VcdromX"...you can google it or from the link in my sig...here is the guide for "VcdromX"(i used Fifa as an example for it):

VcdromX:
download it and once you extract it...look for an icon called "VcdromX"...(I'm going to use Fifa as an example in this guide) open this file up and a window will pop up on the screen type in "C:\Fifa" and make sure that the "FCD" button is checked...now click the left "??" on the bottom..now go to the folder where you have the "PSP_GAME" and "UMD_DATA.BIN" files\folders and DRAG them over to the right side of the "VcdromX" window...once this is done go to the top left corner and look for a box marked "??F", click on this and then go down to where it says "????(B)" click on this..a window will pop up click "OK"...this will start to convert this file to an ".FCD" file...now once this is done go back to the top left corner and to the "??F" box..this time go down to where it says "??????C"..this will bring up another pop up window click on the folder icon on the top box and go to the C:\ and look for the file labeled "Fifa.FCD"...now click open or double click on that file and it will put that name in the pop up window that showed up...now click on the top right box ( next to the folder looking icon) labeled "??" and it will start to create an iso image file for you...you will have to close this window out because it will stay stuck on 100% once finished..but once it reaches 100% it is ok to close it...

@pspfreek...if you are talking about dumping a game and you want to make it smaller...you can't you have to get the game dumped first then you can shrink it....most games are fairly large, what is the size of your memory card, i'll try to help you find games that will fit onto your memory card...and onto the matter of the folders for Fastloader V0.08...after you have downloaded and extracted Fastloader...look for the folder "PSP"(the one you got from the download, NOT the one on your psp), and double click on it, it will show another folder called "GAME", double click on this folder and two folders will appear "UMDEMULATOR" AND "UMDEMULATOR%"...COPY these folders and place them on your psp, to do this double click on the PSP folder(the one on your psp) and then double click on the GAME folder...once this window pops up past those two folders here(the UMDEMULATOR and UMDEMULATOR% folders).....then go back to the download of fastloader V0.08 and COPY the UMDEMULATOR folder(the one that is shown with the PSP folder...)and PASTE it on the Root Directory(first window that pops up when you plug in your psp to your computer)...then double click on the UMDEMULATOR(the one you just placed on the Root Directory) and you will see an ISO folder..that is the folder that you place the ISO image files in...good luck, holla ;)

@willsinc...just playing around with my psp and reading...the vcdromx program...took me forever to learn how to use(didn't have a guide for it...that sucked)

ok here's a simplified version of where the folders should be...(grabbed it from Humma's readme):

PSP/(this folder is on the Root Directory)
|
+--- GAME/
| |
| +--- UMDEMULATOR/
| | |
| | +--- EBOOT.PBP
| |
| +--- UMDEMULATOR%/
| |
| +--- EBOOT.PBP
UMDEMULATOR/(this folder is on the Root Directory)
| |
| +--- ISO/
| | |
| | +--- < place your ISOs here >
| |
| +--- core.bin
| +--- menu.bmp
| +--- config.dat
