To get a tutorial on how to take a 360 apart or if there's not one there you could make a request and see if anyone's brave enough...:p (xbox 1 is already there),you can check to see if at this link,if link don't work google for "take it apart" http://www.takeitapart.net/

i didn't want to read all of the posts, but i read some so i really apologize for saying this but, i posted under "v1.3 firmware!!" and i only got one respose, i am stuck in mode b and i want to know how to stay out of it when i want to play!! the light is flashing and it's getting tiresome!! both hacked games and original don't work

Hi,
I have managed to rip my games on my samsung sh-d162c drive and got an image file.
I use ssmerger to merge the image and the ss files.
The problem is, all the ss files I have (over 60) apperar as red.
I rip my original UK (PAL) games and get ss merge to detect them but even though I select for example PGR3 PAL, it says it needs a different SS file than the ss.bin file I have for PGR 3.
Where can I get the proper UK PAL SS files for games as all the ones on the next seem to be American or certainly different to the ones SS Merger tells me I need.

I might buy an xbox 360 instead of a PS3 if the firmware mod is as good as the darkAlex firmware mod on PSP I'm using ( running with devHook this can run anything, any games, It even emulate new firmwares directly into the psp RAM ).
I wanted to know if the mod is really that good, how much time you think it will last? anyway I won't buy it until christmas ( or maybe a bit before ) I want to know if it's gonna continue working and all, because I'm not sure about how much time the xtreme firmware will last if M$ continue updating the firmwares... but at least it's easier to fatisfy me because I don't want to play online ( I hate the stupity of paying to play online the games you already bought... on PC games this is free, on PSP it's free, on DS it's free, on PS2 it's free and it's suppose to be free on ps3... ).
Some predictions? can this brick the xbox360? ( not like the crap about how flashing can always brick, but the real danger, I mean, does a lot of people brck it? if you're a n00b you can brick it? because for the software and almost a veteran with all the firmware mods I made for the PSP but I'm a real n00b for hardware mods... I only had a chip on my ps1, and a swap on my ps2.. ( and don't think I'm just an hacker, I buy ~2000$ of games normally before modding ( but for psp and I hope for x360 )) and I don't know what you have to do to install the firmware ( even if it's surely not hard to find )
someone could help? I mean, someone have the firmware and can tell if it's good, looking bright for the next firmwares? does M$ release new firmwares non-stop like the PSP? ( we started at 1.5 in US and now we're 2.8 lol )

OK. some of this is going to fact, and some is going to be my personal thought.
Fact: You can play on XBox Live with the backed up games. I have not had a single problem with online play. At this time, there is no way for the XBox live service to know if your DVD drive is firmwared.
Fact: The firmware doesnt nothing to your XBox360 except change how the DVD works, your XBox360 console will never know that you changed the firmware.
My Thoughts: This is unfixable by xbox. They can't just brick all users of updated firmswares. a) I'm sure they would have done it already, it's not about what they figure out what to do or how to do it, they made this damn thing, they know everything about it. If they wanted to brick us with an update patch they would have done it. Theres been three XBox live updates since the firmware hacks started.... No updates to brick us though.
More Thoughts: They cant update the firmware by game like PSP either. I just don't think the firmware is editable by the XBox period, a) the hackers would have exploited this already b) microsoft would have fixed it already. Microsoft has published games since the firmware hack has been made with no firmware updates.
I'm pretty happy with my firmware hack, I can play any backup game, it boots almost instantly just like real games. Obviously I can't promise it won't get fixed somehow...
Right now we can mod XBoxes and the downside is we can't play on XBox Live.... If they fix XBox360 firmware, its the same boat. What would you rather do? Play online or free games? Each has its goodpoints. I like to play online personally but I don't want to pay a mortage payment to microsoft for the choosen games I want.

Xtreme, Wxripper images.
I'm going to start to burn 360 images soon and I would just like know the difference between these 2 images. Just the file structure would be fine. I want to know what Video partition to use when I have 2 merge SS sectors with SS merger 1.6. (example: name.dvd + image.000 = what partition) the other is(image.000 + image.001 to whatever = what partition) any help would be appreciated. Thanks

yup, just create image and then burn image, once you've done it once, its easy to duplicate.

That is using an image, is there any way to actually copy from disc to disc?

I think I know of a place that will mod the 360 with the firmware hack for me, but I wonder: if M$ does release a firmware update that renders the mod unuseable, would it be possible to just install the old, working firmware again?

A few questions, I got Top Spin and it has downloaded with 9 files? like IMAGE, IMAGE.000, IMAGE.001, IMAGE.002 and so on the is also a DVD file but when I burn it the game doesn't work? Any ideas? Also I have games that come as just .rar files and there is only one of these what am I to do with this? Please help. Thanks Richard

Are you sure you have the right region? That game is region locked. You can also be having burning issues from your burner or media.

Hi, I am sure it is the PAL version, why am I getting so many files though? also what do I do with .rar games and I can't get SS to work?

Rich,
Read the previous threads and do a search (afterdawn or google) on what do to with .rar files. You need to extract it first using WinRAR or similiar program.

Hi, I have used WinRAR what I do is download the files then use quick par to mend any missing files then I rar it but for some unknown reason I have got 2 games one where it has one .rar file and no dvd file etc? and another which has about 7-8 files?

This is such a great thread...thanks tweeder..i've been a burning machine. I probably have all the 360games on backup now...with only paying for a stack of blank dvds. for all those having problems..it's really as simple as pie. some games need to be patched, some dont. its just finding the games, using WinRAR to extract the game, then if a dvd f the game pops up...you're done, use clone cd and that's it. if it doesn't have a dvd image upon extraction, use the merger tool with the SS and that's it!!!! BRILLIANT!
