i have just recently began using Ubuntu. I have version 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon." I have tried to install packages on the os and have succeeded until recently. Now whenever i attempt to install something it brings up a window that says i need to run "dpkg --configure -a" I attempt to run this in the terminal but it says i need superuser privelages. Currently i cant even update the system because of this. I am the administrator on the system. does anyone know what this is and how to fix it. any help is appreciated.

    thanks
