How to play ps2 games on Ps3 40 gb

Is it possible to play Ps2 games on ps3 40gb with any firmware update. What I think we cant play because when i bought ps3 40 gb (this was only available in Australia a PAL region) I tilted the pack and it was written in bold that "This playstation3 cannot play Ps2 games". If you find any upgrade I would be grateful.

no u cant. its missing software and hardware that makes the software run. you can not play ps2 games on the 40gb ps3. never will.

not entirely true as the 60gb PAL doesnt use an added E.E chip like the 60gb NTSC version. since it uses software to emulate the E.E then if in theory someone dumped the firmware then installing on the 40gb in some way then its entirely possible :)

Wrong. The 80 gig and the 60 gig euro still needs hardware aids to help with the emulation; which the 40 gig lacks.
