Has anyone ever had a problem using the optorite drive to record to princo dvd-rw media? What's happening with me is that everytime I put in a blank dvd-rw, my pc freezes; as soon as I eject it, everything works again. The princo dvd-rw media is 1x I believe, I'm using Nero 6 Ultra edition and here's my system specs:
Athlon 750 thunderbird
Abit kt7 mb
512 mb ram
Windows XP pro
Should I use +rw media to do my backups or can anyone recommend an rw media? The regular Princo -r's all record fine. Any suggestions, tips, comments are welcome. Thanks!

djslammin, There shouldn't be a problem using dvd-rw to try a backup. I always use rw if I'm not sure how a backup will look compressed as a test disc. But the fact that your system freezes up seems to be something else. Go to www.dvdrhelp.com.
They have a section on writer - media compatability
with comments from owners. Your burner should be listed. Jerry

Hi djslammin
If you check Optorite firmware upgrade site you will find a link to the media this unit supports under the 2.30 firmware http://optorite.com/DD020xsupportlist.htm

I have the same unit and media it does not like will freeze the unit until it is ejected. My unit likes only +R and +RW media.
I hope this helps
