Has anyone done this successfully?

I'm getting this:

Summary for drive G: (AnyDVD 6.1.9.3)
HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW GGC-H20L 1.00 43092807127BLG1250
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

Media is a Blu-Ray disc.
Total size: 24438784 sectors (47732 MBytes)
Video Blu-Ray label: PIRATES3
Media is AACS protected!
VerifyMediaKey failed. Please update AnyDVD!
ERROR processing Blu-Ray disc!

I'm not about to keep paying for AnyDVD each time it comes across a new movie it can't work with - I might as well just buy 2 copies of every movie.

AnyDVD has lifetime updates. The current version is 6.3.0.3.
