I downloaded this movie <name removed -Praetor> but I can't open it with Window 9x, Divx player, BSplayer. I have the xivd, divx codec installed and all my other xvid, divx movies play fine. I download GSPOT and AVI to check out the file and it said the file is not supported. This is actually the second movie I am having with recently. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Most likely you have an older version of the xvid codec and the movie was made using a newer (developmental) build. Try downloading the LATEST XviD codec (Koepi 1.0 beta 2 is the latest) and your problem should go away. Most likely the reason is you have an older build that does NOT support B-frames like the newer builds.
Thank you for the reply. I thought about that problem and download the 1.0 xvid codec from the xvid website. Howerever, I got lost on the document of how to install the codec. It wasn't as simple as the previous xvid codec version where it's a self installer. If anyone know of a self installer version of this xvid codec version, please post a link. Thank you in advance.
Lashings of warnings all round, lest we not also forget that downloading a copyrighted movie is illegal and not endorsed on this site. Praetor, shame on you not noticing ;-) Paul.

I dowloaded this movie with these extensions [hovzr]<<title removed -Praetor >>.xvid.[hovzr]-full.mpg Tried to run it with QuickTime but could not run this movie because " a software component needed by the movie could not be found. Any help pls. I'm a newby in this subject
1. XVID files come in the *.AVI variety 2. *.MPEG files are in no way similar to AVI files 3. QuickTime is not the 'ideal' program to test out a movie with. Try WMP, VDUB, or any DVD player Just from the filename itself, I have suspicisons about the legitigimacy of the movie.
Do a search on google for ffdshow, download and install, depending on what your using to play the movie, i wouldnt recommend using winamp, use a divx player or dvd player like powerdvd or windvd
I dl ffdshow and try to play the movie using powerdvd but that didn't work either. I was wondering after downloading ffdshow and installing it, do I have to compile anything?? Maybe it's just the legitimacy of the movie itself because the file is labeled as xvid but the extension of the file is Movie File(MPEG)!!!
Lol, beaten again k, it doesnt sound like its an mpeg file, for reason i cant be bothered to go into, this is what i would do, i would use the mod version of vdub and save it using a diffrent codec,
