updating to leopard

    hey ppl, i have a ibook g3, 800mhz. unfortunately i only have a cd drive and leopard requires a dvd drive. is there any way id be able to get leopard on my mac? i want to get a dvd drive but hooking it up looks a bit difficult and i dont want to risk it....could i use a virtual drive and a virtual machine?

    Leopard does not run on G3s.

    about the only thing i can think that would work would be get an external usb dvd drive it would be slow or you can install a new dvd drive in your ibook but thats about it otherwise your out of luck

    damn...well that just stinks! lol

    well, i still want to get a bigger HD, RAM, and a dvd/cd drive...know any good places for macs to buy those parts?

    as said before it wont run on G3's. But to answer your question if you have 2 macs you could target disk mode the one you want leopard on then in stall from the other mac. I believe the "host" mac would need to be able to run leopard. or you could use a usb (hopefully 2.0) dvd drive

    eh, i don't think its worth it then..if i have to go through all of that...plus it would probably run slow..which i don't want....do you know of any good sites to get those parts i mentioned?

    you people are all wrong with a little help from this you can install leopard on unsupported macs

    read one of the posts at bottom i says he installed it on a g3
