O.k guys here's the problem: I brought a XFX GeFORCE 8600 GT from newegg to install on this eMachines W3611 Refurbished Intel Desktop PC *The PC has the same specs as the link above nothing has been done to it yet. So i snap it in and it gives me no picture. The card itself seems to be running. It's humming and the fan is spining, but it won't display any picture. I have no idea what's wrong. I'm sure it in securly, and the cables are connected right. I even brought an extra DVI to VGA connector to be sure the one packaged was working. You guys are my last hope before I just return the card, any ideas? oh! and happy Holidays
Did you completely follow the installion instructions? Go to Device Manager. Start>Run>type, devmgmt.msc Are there any red X's, yellow exclamations marks?
The thing is I can't even get any picture to show when connecting the video card to the monitor. nothing even when turning the PC on. I can hear vista sounds logging in, but no picture at all And no there aren't any red X's, yellow exclamations marks.
Did you follow the installation guide procedure? You will need to disable the onboard graphics via the BIOS, or set the default display device to the PCI-E Slot
Not sure which "F" key takes you into BIOS SETUP UTILITY on emachines. Try F1, F10, ESC, or DEL key. But, start with the F1 key. Turn off the machine. Hit the power button, at the first screen tap F1 key. Once in BIOS, you'll need to navagate with the keyboard arrow keys to the ADVANCED TAB, scroll down with the down arrow key until PRIMARY VIDEO ADAPTER is highlighted, press ENTER. You will see two choices, PCI and PCI-E. Select PCI-E by highlighting. Press ENTER. Press F10 to save and exit.
The PC is probably still sending a picture via the old graphics card. You can set the default bus for showing a picture in your BIOS. It needs to be set to PCI express.
You know it could be what the other are saying, but it could also be that your current PSU doesn't have enough power to run the Graphics card.
