ipod linux help

    i have a 1st gen nano 2gb i had ipod linux installed on it and i had a problem and restored it to factory defaults and it earased it now every time i try to reinstall it gets to the last part (modifying the firmwire ) and it gives me error #10 cannot modify firmwire why cant it do that ive tryed 3 times
