Gears of War instalation problems

So I recently got Gears of War for the PC. But when I once I got home and tried installing it, things started going wrong.
    My Specs:
    Intel E6750 @ 3.0Ghz
    XFX 8800 GTX (not overclocked)
    2GB Cosair XMS 800 RAM
    150 GB/500 GB (I'm installing on the 500GB)

First off, the first time I installed it was almost a success, until the very last minute, at the stage that verifies the files, or something like that, my whole computer froze. After waiting for about 10 mins, I eventually gave up and manually restarted my computer.
Then now, when I try installing GoW again, one of two things happens:
    1. The whole installation completes, then when I'm about to get to Verifying files part, it says failed to load something. I ended up having to uninstall GoW and retry. Less common.
    2. After I select what directory I want to install GoW into, the screen where you hit 'I accept' or 'I decline' doesn't even pop up. Theres an icon down in the task bar that says 'Gears of War' but when I click it nothing happens. Nothing is in the Task Manager as far as I can tell. Much more common.

I've eventually gave up trying to install, but if there is a solution, it would be much appreciated. What I'm thinking is the first installation (where it froze up and I manually restarted) left something on my computer that prevents me from finishing a new one. Any thoughts?

Added note on number 1. The error is this:

    Error Number: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: GameuxInstallHelper
    Setup will now terminate.

I'm having the same problem. I went into registry, windows folders, etc and deleted everything I could find pertaining to GOW. Ran three types of registry cleaners. Still not fixed. This game embeds itself all over your computer, worse than Nortan. Apparantly, the game didn't do a clean uninstall. I've done a few searches and there are many people having this issue and no one has posted a working solution. If I find a solution, I will inform you.

I've been hearing that this game has had a lot of problems installing! I got it installed on my system, but when I went to play it, it would go to the menu, but quit after a couple minutes every time. I just went with Crysis instead!

I have had some installation problems like these specifically with Games for Windows Disc. Try cleaning the silver side of the disc with cloth thoroughly. On Bioshock and Gears my drive couldnt read some files because somehow the disc was not readable. I fixed this by cleaning it with cloth. Again on Gears, after installation is complete, Do not load the game from the disc. Instead go to Start-Games-Then Gears of war. It tends to either crash, or does not save your system settings when you boot the game from the disc. On Bioshock, if the audio does not work, right click the bioshock icon on your desktop click properties and choose compatability to Windows XP SP2.

In my case. I just deleted all the Gears of War folders I could find, but somehow it didn't go away (even used registry cleaner). After that, I tried pressing Uninstall and it went on, but.

    Got the error: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: FirewallInstallHelper (Not GameuxInstallHelper)
    Setup will now terminate.

So I mounted the cd, then took the file FirewallInstallHelper.dll and posted it in the original Gears of War Folder.

In my case, C:\Programmer\Microsoft Games\Gears of War .. Then went on with the Uninstall, and it worked !?

A bit confusing, but might work ..
