I am new to mac and I am having an issue backing up my dvds. I tried to back up Harry Potter Order of the pheonix and the last couple of chapters didn't come out right.

I am using Mac the Ripper first, then I am putting the VIDEO_TS folder through DVD2ONEX2 to shrink to fit on my single Layer DVD.

I then burn with Toast 8 titanium. The problem I believe is with DVD2ONEX2. I tried to copy an older movie that I copied easily on my PC to see if I still got errors. I got an error during DVD2ONEX2 processing of the VIDEO_TS Folder. Told me to check and sure enough the 4th chapter is messed up.

Any suggestions? Should I switch to a different program from DVD2ONEX2? Do you think it is with Mac the Ripper?

    Thanks,

    Scott

i only use mac the ripper and toast. toast has a compression option
just those two apps has worked for all dvd's up until recently. i tried with rush hr3 and now with game plan. going through ripper gives me an error, so i need to find a new app.

Since both the Mac and PC rip of the DVD resulted in errors (as reported by DVD2oneX2), the problem may lie with the disc. Is the disc either scratched or dirty? Sometimes a Main Feature Extraction, instead of a Full Disc Extraction, with MacTheRipper will be of use with scratched discs. If that doesn't work, try to extract all of the chapters with MacTheRipper - again, this may help with scratched discs. Of course, if you extract the chapters, you're going to have to use an application such as VisualHub to restore a working VIDEO_TS folder.
