i don't know what happened to my dvd rom drive but suddenly it stopped reading cd roms. when i pop in a cd rom, the light flickers and it makes a strange noise about every 5 seconds, until i push the button to have it come out. however when i pop in a dvd disc, everything is fine! does anyone know what may be wrong with my drive?
Some time back my plextor did the same thing. DVD but no CD. I was told that there are two different lasers and one quit. I can still burn and play DVDs but it won.t even recognize a CD when loaded. Some day, soon I hope, I'll buy another burner. Good luck to you.
