i have been using AVI2DVD for a while now to convert .avi files to dvd using the HCEnc encoder, but i have noticed that when i convert them the dvd had no 5.1 sound and the .avi files do have?? is there anyway of getting 5.1? i have looked at other programs but i just get lost and confused where as AVI2DVD is easy and i think has good results.

    cheers

Try using DVD Flick instead. Here's an elaborate guide. To set audio to 5.1 Surround, go to Project Settings, Audio, Channel count, and finally click on pull-down arrow and select 5.1 Surround.

Does DVD Flick also allow you to create an intro video and a static or animated background with menus so the user can pick from one or more videos on the DVD?

No it doesn't. That's the trade-off. However, the quality is well-brought-up!

The other trade-off is Flick's inferior video encoder.

To the OP, I usually get 5.1 sound out of AVI2DVD, many times with 2 channel sources. Have you installed ac3filter?
