Ok got a old but new board from a friend so i hooked it up to a empty case i had sitting around set it all up and powered it on and it kept stopping at the bootscreen = systen fan failure please have serviced? i have three different fans i hooked then all up in all the different available jacks. and i got the same mesage when i tried each fan sepratly (so i just turned it off in bios) but i would still like to find out a way to have this corrected so i dont have to have a fan running all the time? and after i installed windows xp it wont play music at all. all formats even the samples that come on xp?? the pc says no audio hardware but there is jacks on the board for audio? Sorry if these questions are dumb im learning slowly about computers and ive never set up a board before.. also the board is made by biostar and it says k8 on the box but i couldnt figure out which modle it is specificly to get the diagrams for wiring up the usb in the front!! If theres anyone who could help me with any of these problems that would be incredible! Thanks in advance!
Ok, first the fan. You can disable that warning in the BIOS. Go into the BIOS menu, and somewhere there will be a Halt option. You can set that to none. (Different BIOSes say it differently, but something along those lines. if you get stuck, I'll have a look at your particular BIOS to help) As for the audio, you need to install the drivers for your motherboard. This goes for all the devices it has, not just the sound. For this reason you should try and get the CD for the board. If you don't have it, go to the Biostar website, find the download section for this particular board, and get the Audio driver and the Chipset driver (they may be part of one package) As for wiring up the USB, that should be a doddle, the pins on the motherboard will be marked FUSB or JUSB or USB, something along those lines. The connector should only fit one way round, so just plug it in!
Ok thank you for your help... I already disabled bios checking for my system fan but i would still like to know why my fan is running constantly? I did find out about the drivers.. Windows Xp put one on there for me during the updates Like i said above my board is made by biostar but i dont have the manual or the disc to tell me the specific model of my board... trust me if i did know i wouldnt need anyone to tell me where to get the drivers or wiring diagram for the usb.. ive been to biostar website it was actually the first place i went and i looked at every picture but i guess my board isnt new enough to be on there website.. so if you know how i could find out what board mine is that would be terrific... And for the usb wiriing im not sure if you've ever put together a pc but on some cases the usb plug is eight wires not a plug i have to get the diagram to tell me which wires (port+) (port-) (g) And (vcc) should connect to since there is only a series of nine pins stacked five on top of four..and none are labled im at a loss and ive read in other forums you shouldnt do it without the diagram because you can totaly destroy the usb module on the board and the case!! So basically now all i need to know now is how to find the exact model of my board and how to set my pc up right so my fan isnt constantly running
Unless you also specify in the options that the fan must turn off below a certain temperature, it will run all the time. The model of your board should be printed on the board itself. As for the USB, I'm aware that individual connectors exist, but it's been so many years since I've seen it done that way I just assumed that it would be the bulk connector - my bad on that one. Hope this diagram helps:
yeah thats it but i read not all are set up the same so im having a hard time figuring out which way my pins are exactly... Sorry i should have said i already have a diagram explaning which pins go where from another biostar manual i have but i just want to make sure im looking at the right model? and the only thing on my board i can find is P4G533-LA but i cant find anything about that besides the fact that it was used in alot of hp's and that doesnt help with the manual?
All USB headers are laid out the same way, due to the 'spare pin' arrangement at the end. As for the manual, try the HP website instead of the Biostar one if it was used in HP PCs.
