I have a computer i built a while ago. It has worked for a while, with it's hitches here and there. I just recently put in a wireless PCI card (Netgear) which works too. However now for some reason when i have the wireless Netgear program running to find and connect to networks it will run for about 5 minutes then an error box will pop up and read "The instruction at "0x0046a84e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". the memory could not be "written"." I have no clue what this means. Also now my computer will all of a sudden freeze up and shut down unexpectedly. Are they connected somehow?

Also, does the fact that i'm using a friends copy of windows xp with a changed key have anything to do with some of this?

thanks for any and all help.

it sounds like the netgear application is causing the problem. Try uninstalling the netgear application and use Windows to manage your Wifi.
