I am having a problem backing up dvds on lightscribe media. I have tried two different brands, but I keep getting a disk error. I have only gotten it to burn once, so i know it is capable. When I use regular DVD+R media no problem. It is only when I use the lightscribe media. My burner is a lightscribe burner and I have no problems burning a label. Has anybody had this problem, or is it something I am doing wrong?

Is the firmware up to date for your burner?
What brand of LS media have you tried?

Definitely update your firmware for starters.
Right-click on My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager> Press the '+' next to DVD/CD-ROM drives and it will list all the optical drives connected to your PC and their manufacturer and model.
Google your manufacturer and model and you should find the right firmware drivers easily.
Second, which program are you using to burn them, what kind of error are you getting? If your using Nero than post your burn log here..

Have you tried the disk in a different player, I got one player that won't recognize lightscribe and one that will. Older players have probs with them.

Did you try updating your firmware?
You maybe need to update the LS System Software, it could be that your burner isn't recognizing the latest revisions of the Lightscribe discs. I had some problems writing labels and getting my LS discs to play properly, after I updated the LS software, they went away.
