does IDE matter?

hey i was wondering about the whole IDE thing. my hard drive is IDE so do i need an IDE to sata convertor to mod my 360? i already bought the sata card for the samsung drive and its installed already. so do i really need to connect the sata chipset to my hard drive if its already connected into my motherboard?

No you dont need to, the xbox 360 dvd drive will be connected to the sata card, via its usb port, your hard drive remains as it is.

Just to clear things up a little, what you should do, is leave your hard drive plugged on to your motherboards ide port.
The sata card you bought, will be used to connect the 360's dvd drive, to the computer via its first port, then you will use your comp to flash the hacked firmware onto the drive, you should look for textbooks guide, as its probably the best one available.
