DVDFAB PLATINUM 4.0.5.0. Unable to backup Deadwood: Season 3, until I disabled Pathplayer. No issues with Deadwood, Season 1 or 2.

    What was the bad behavior?

I am a paid ownder of Fab Platinum and I could NOT get it to rip Deadwwod Season 3 Disc 1. No how no way. The behavior: it scans forever--and I mean FOREVER. If you pull the dvd, it just keeps on scanning. That is, until you hit Cancel, at which time it locks-up. And this is not the first time this has occurred. I've had nothing but trouble with Fab and these episodic discs.

It's a pathplayer issue? I tried to rip DWS3D1 using 4062 Platinum and 4062 Free on 2 different boxes, under 2 different OS's, using 3 different devices--and always the same: pathological scanning with a final lock-up.

    I didn't think I had Pathplayer enabled. AnyDVD/Clone2 ripped DWS3D1 no problem.

    Hmmm...

you have a new version of DVDFabPlatinum........ should be no problem......report the problem to DVDFab........maybe the update to the newer version caused a problem with this DVD? If it was processed by AnyDVd and CloneDVD2 just fine then there's no problem with the DVD and DVDFab should be notified of this problem with the DVD. Another thing is to reinstall the newer version and reboot..... then try again!

Before installing the newest version of DVDFAB Platinum. Make sure you remove all older versions. Also, remove pcouffin.
Simply navigate to Start-> Search-> All files and folders-> All or part of the file name. First search DVDFAB, remove all traces. Then search and remove pcouffin.

    Install the newest version.
    http://www.dvdfab.com/download.htm?vid=avangate&aid=689
    Should work fine afterwards.

Be sure the run a registry cleaner. Delete all old browser files. Then, run disc cleanup and disc defragmenter.

4062 *is* the latest version. Do you mean install the 4065 beta? Why?

    Fab's Twilight Zone Tech Support

As I said, I contacted Fab Tech Support and received the usual CLUELESS reply from Ada Fang.

Ada FANG. Are you kidding me? Only in the Twilight Zone would tech support be named FANG. Why couldn't she be Ada Soothing or Ada Compassion? Note to self: suggest to Fab that they rename their androids.

Clearly Ms Replicant is not technical, is completely disconnected from the developers, and has no intention of admitting, let alone pursuing, THIS OBVIOUS AND EMBARRASSING BUG. Here is the amiable android's reply:

    QUOTE
Please disable your virus and spyware software and check if your computer has other decrypter software.

I suggest you try using a variety of different brands/speeds media. Check your writer manufacturer's site and the computer manufactures site for a list of recommended media to use with your writer and any firmware updates. Also lowering the writing speed may bring better results.
    UNQUOTE

Let me get this straight. We have an application that scans forever regardless of whether there is media in the device or not and it is the fault of the media? Hahahaha! Kill me now. That's just INSANE.

It's not my job to teach these morons at Fab how to program, but believe, I COULD. Take this to the bank: there are serious architectural flaws in software that loops endlessly waiting for non-existent events. I suggest the developers at Fab take some ELEMENTARY COMPUTER SCIENCE CLASSES. In particular, focus on the techniques used in MULTI-THREADED PROGRAMMING.

    <shaking my head> You idiots.

As for the rest of you. Among the great unwashed masses, who don't REALLY know how computers work and know even less how applications work, there is this VOODOO IGNORANCE that says that the solution to any problem is to start uninstalling everything, deleting everything and generally flailing around in a tantrum of stupidity.

Do I have to do everything myself?

    Apparently.

@Mordaunt.........for someone that is asking for advise you are too arrogant saying you know all! If you did know all then you would understand that sometimes a computer gets cluttered up and Windows gets bogged down and doesn't work as properly as with certain programs that should work if Windows and the computer were cleaned out and working as it should be! but then again ...... a computer savvy person like you should know this already! And if you are sooooooooo smart and can write code then why don't you fix DVDFabPlatinum yourself! After all.... everyone else's works just fine..... but not yours... hmmmmmm wonder why? After all, DVDFab works properly with the DVD that you are trying to do in the versions before the one that is available NOW! I guess for a person who is asking for help ...... why not rag on people that are trying to give you answers because you don't want to take the advice given! then for a smart person like you ...... why even ask!? Nice..... a newbie comes into this forum ...... knows all buts asks for help...... then rags on the people that are giving advice! I for one will remember that! good luck buddy!

You forgot to mention that this thread has been hijacked. Good luck indeed as you'll need it to get far on this site with an attitude such as yours Mordaunt.

this great unwashed person certainly does know how computers work; also it's a tad childish to badmouth the DVDFab folks because you can't rip a disc that other people quite clearly can. Shame on you.

you're quite clearly flailing around in your own tantrum of stupidity there. Again, shame on you.

@LOCOENG........the only reason I didn't mention HIJACKING was the topic of Deadwood: Season 3 ..... which he probably searched and found this thread......... then yes, Mordaunt, added his problem instead of seeing that it would be proper to start a new thread addressing his own problem! but then again... we are the idiots!

Hmm...I wonder if in the case of Mordaunt we have a frustrated MPAA/RIAA funboy, a dude that forgot to take his medication, or he did take it, but the pharmacist messed up the refill!
That's the only explanation that makes sense to me, but again, what do I know, I am just one of the "unwashed masses, who don't REALLY know how computers work"( I am still using one of those "Video Professor" tutorials that walks me through the process everytime I need to turn my machine on/off!)

However, DVDFab is workin' pretty gooood, no problems!! Hmm, it must be designed genius proof, made special for technologically challanged peolple like me! Or it could be the lack of "MULTI-THREADED PROGRAMMING knowledge " that I have, or my "VOODOO IGNORANCE" that allows the program to work. Whatever it is, man, am I glad that I am not "special" like you, Mr./Ms Mordaunt!

    Wooo, since the Pharao!!
"psychic technical sense", "ignorance proof"(unlike us, in Voodoo land), "supper programmer", "super cool name"(as opposed to Ada FANG), "exceptional intelligence"(as opposed to us the idiots)- is that Delusion of Grandeur or Narcissism?

I just thought that Pharaoh never Let Him Free, like he did with my People! So he is just venting!

As we all know, the pharaohs believed they were living Gods. But my God, the God of Abraham,Issac, and Jacob says "Pride goeth before a fall"

    Pardon us mortals...oh great one.

I guess my question to the Programming Almighty is, if thee has developed a psychic sense, why aren't you answering questions before they're asked?

It's a shame your wit appears less sharp than your tongue.

Pardon, as i consult my notes on proper pc shutdown now.
