Hello, I have 2 problems, 1 is that my CMOS will reset after i switch it off in the back or i unplug it. Yes, I already tried replacing the battery but i get the same problem. It will give me a CMOS checksum error everytime i turn my computer back on after plugging it in, but this is where my 2nd problem comes in. When i plug it in. I will go to turn it on but it will immediately shut off in the second or two i turn it on, like a pulse of power. So, I unplug it and plug it back in, it does it again, but after the 3rd-5th time, it will stay on but show up with the CMOS Checksum error. Can anyone please help me? This is very irritating because my motherboard isnt really that old. BTW it is a KN9S abit motherboard. I have many years of experience so I assure you I am not a noob, but this one of the many things I can't seem to figure. Help will be greatly appreciated and thanks ahead of time.
i had the same problem with my previous board concerning the cmos. i rma'd it as it was still under warranty.
I'd suggest the motherboard is suspect, but I can't really rule out the PSU either. Were both purchased at the same time?
^I have the same "problem" with my build too. Although it doesn't show an error, when I unplug it my overclocks sometimes go back to defaults. In addition, sometimes when I exit the BIOS, the pc will shutdown immediately, then turn on about 4 seconds later. I think this is normal, as nothing bad happens, the computer just restarts and thats it.
For what it's worth, when I unplug my PC for any length of time, when I turn it back on, it will power on momentarily then shut down, then reboot itself after a few seconds. All my CMOS settings will be kept though.
mine didn't as even my time & date went back to default even with a good battery. all settings in bios went to default when turned off.
Either check the battery on the motherboard is seated correctly, and that the CMOS clear jumper on the mainboard is in the correct setting (some M/B's require it to connect 2 pins together, some require it to only be connecting 2 pins when you wish to clear CMOS, and some require you to completely remove it to clear CMOS). Let us know how you get on.
no i bought my mobo around a year ago and just got my new psu for xmas, the cmos reset is in normal position also. this kinda sucks because i go to a lot of lan parties and for some reason the bios wont detect my usb keyboard so i always have to borrow a ps/2 keyboard to adjust my settings accordingly
yea i just ordered an ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe off of newegg, but.....yea...i ordered an open box OEM so I have a question about open box items, has anyone had any problems with open box items on Newegg, assuming that you bought off of Newegg before. It was $50 cheaper so I couldnt resist since its a very good board.
Open Box items from what I hear are about twice as likely to go wrong as normal products. Ye be warned.
I've only ordered one open box item. It was at a VERY good price. Turned out to be DOA so I just sent it to Gigabyte and got a new one. It's still working. Even if you get a bad board send it to the manufacturer(not back to newegg) so you can get a working one.
