Looking for an upgrade to my ATI AIW Radeon X1900 256 card that I initially built my PC on...Kinda narrowed the scope of what I am looking for and this ATI card hasn't really performed to the level I had hoped or provided the aspects I had wanted. Not a gamer, more of a videophile and someone who will possibly DVR/PVR HD and other programming via digital cable. Anyone recommend something versatile?
Umm.. you will need something rather powerful to do what you want .. I think the best card going around is the ATI HD3870. If its phenominal at processing high end games, then I think it would do the trick for what you want to do. And its extremely cheap too =D
If an X1900 isn't fast enough for you, I'm dubious whether you'll do any better with a 3870, as while they're very fast, they're not exactly all-in-wonder grade. You might want to consider something like a FireGL or QuadroFX.
