cant create a new internet connection...please help..

    i trying to connect my dsl streight to my computer with out using a router, so when i try to create a new connection/next/next/set up my connection manually/CONNECT USING A BROADBAND CONNECTION THAT REQUIRES A USER NAME AND A PASSWORD/ for some reason i cant select that option, so i cant create a new connection, can some one please help me out............

    You "shouldn't" have manually create a connection to connect the internet. Try recycling the power on the DSL modem after you plugged it into the computer.
    Then see if you get a valid IP address: Start > Run > 'cmd' > OK
    In the command prompt type in 'ipconfig' and hit enter to check your IP address. If it starts with 169.254.xxx.xxx it's no good.
