My CPU clock original is 2300 MHZ.My CPU FSB original is 200 Mhz. When i run a video authoring program they run above that which causes a heating problem which makes my computer shut down. How do I fix this? If you need more info lemme know.
All of the newer processors do that. When there isn't alot of programs running, the processor runs at a lower speed. When you open a game, or do something that requires more power, the CPU goes back to its original speed. Like laptop right now, I just have firefox open and the processor is at 997Mhz. When I open a bunch of windows or something, it goes to 2.16Ghz. This is meant to save energy. As for the heat issue, your heatsink should be able to take it. What type of a HSF are you using and what type of processor?
