    Hey Gang,

Well I did it. I upgraded the entire system. I went with a xfx nforce 680i LT sli socket 775 mobo with an Intel Quad Core Kentsfield 2.4Ghz Q6600 processor and an evga geforce 8800 gt superclocked 512 mb PCIe video card. As for memory I went with OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Memory.
Now the problem that I'm having is that windows isn't registering the 8 gigs. However the bios does. So what do I do? I have seen a few places different timings including 6,6,6,18 (auto defualts), and 5.4.4.15. However these timings haven't worked in solving the problem. Additionally, others have said that they have had no problems with just 2 sticks of this ram so I tried that approach and yet again windows still only registers 2.75gigs of Ram. So anyone have any ideas? So that I can finally get this comp up to its full potential?

windows will only register up to 3.5 gigs on standard 32bit windows.

to fully utilize the ram, you would have to upgrade to windows xp/vista 64bit.

The amount that windows sees will vary, sometimes it will only be 2.75GB. 2.5 is as much as I'd guarantee you'd be able to see.
