Hi OK im thinking of buying a PCI TV Tuner Card Of Ebay. It states the minimum system requirements and my computer meets everything but it says that the computer should have a availiable busmaster capable PCI slot. What is a busmaster capable PCI slot and how do I no if I have it or not? Ive never heard of this before thats why I need some help. Thank You
It means you need to have an empty PCI slot on your motherboard. And, unless that tuner card is new, there is no way I would buy it off of e-Bay.
Neither had I until I googled it just now. Seems it is a means of getting PCI cards to bypass the CPU. What motherboard do you have? We can probably find out if it supports busmaster.
OK I checked using DirectX and here is what it says: System Manufacturer: Intel D845HV System Model: HV84510A Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.60GHz
OK I found on the Intel website the manual for the computer and it says about the motherboard that all of the PCI bus connectors are Bus Master Capable so it shoud work. xD Anyway can you still tell me what bus master is or means because ive never heard of it before. Thank You.
I believe it's a means of a device plugged into a PCI card to communicate directly with the chipset without requiring the CPU to process any of the information.
