I have the ASUS EAH3870 512MB video card. Whenever I go to any setup that tells information about my graphics card, it says I have only shader version 3.0. But, my video card is supposed to have shader version 4.0. How do you fix this problem? Also, I installed the driver for my vga card from ati website not asus website. Thanks!
The 3870 is compatible with shader 4.0, so although it may not say it, the 3870 has the power to render shader model 4.0.
You dont. I believe there is a update, or when a game comes out that uses 4.0, you will probably get a patch when you run the game installer.
Are you using XP? As far as I can recall, Shader model 4 is a component of directx10, so if you're still using 9.0c (which you'll have to with xp) your PC will never recognise more than Shader model 3.
