I wouldn't buy one if i were you.

Reason I say this, I too wanted an External Hard drive, I did about 8 hours of research over a few days and i came to the conclusion that most break and its not worth the risk of your data.

Saying that, I recently was given a WD Passport drive (brandNew) at Uni, everyone was! Mine plays up some times and someones died after 2 weeks of occasional use.

If it is absaulte must that you need one, make sure you backup your data to other means (e.g. webserver, Internal hard drive)

Seriouly, I did research on most makes (they all carry someones hard drive inside anyways) and it wasn't worth the risk.

Well Ive had one external 500gig HDD for about 3 years now (back when they cost a fortune, one of my suppliers gave it to me as a kickback :)) and Ive never had an issue with it. I have ordered one of these drives after managing to find a couple of reviews that both said it was extremely fast and has a decent drive inside the housing.
