dvd flick error?

please and thank you.

I am a new wanta be burner. my machine; two year old toshiba p35 s611
2 gigs ram, and a mashita dvd-ram uj-820s. burn medium verbatium, sony, tdk. I used to burn files from my hard drive with nero. nero crashed so i deleted it. I puchased(dumb me) deep burner and could not get it to work properly.

I found this sight and am trying to use dvd fick now. unfortunately i seem to be incapable of useing this program correctly or I have some other problem.

I read for days various threads about various error messages but none of the solutions offered help me.

my message reads;

I/O error
devise[1:0:0] mashita dvd-ram uj-820s 1.50 (D:)(ATA)
SCSI STATUS:0x02
Interpretation:check condition
cbd: 2A 00 00 1B 59 20 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: write(10)- sectors; 1792288-1792319
sense area:70 00 06 00 00 00 00 0A00 00 00 00 29 00 00 00 00
Interpretation:power on,reset,or bus devise reset occurred
interpretation: invalid address to write

after i set up for the burn i click burn and it runs through all the stages until it gets to the finalizing stage and the verification part
of the burn process and it errors out. I cancel out and the dvd plays through most of the movie, about 75-85%, and it stops. it will do this every time on a full length movie. I have a stack of varius brands of coasters.Unfortunately if i only burn a short 3,4,5 min. vid it burns great every time.

It is very consistant in what it does. I am worried that my dvd burner my be out of alignment if that is even possible.

Sorry about taking so long to get this back up, my wireless card is taking a crap on me. Here is a most current burn log. The new log note” Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format” is a new note in the burn log but came up twice while I was attempting to grab the log.

I have used all three mediums with the same result. The disk will burn 75-85% of the disk and it will play fine. But it errors out.

@ Rotary,
Drive F:\ seems to be just a partition. Drive C:\, where the ISO and burning software are located do not come up with any FAT 32 warning, so C:\ must be NTFS?!
The FAT32 partition should not affect the burn.

The TDK discs are no good.

make sure your power supply to the burner is good. Try plugging it to a different spot. Check the cables.
It could be that a $20-$30 investment into a new burner is required.

spotted! re-reading

is the software on F drive? hence the fail burn? pulls upto 4gig and bombs out like said 80% done...

if imgburn is on F drive then thats why it gives the fat32 warning?

The burner is internal. However the machine is still under warranty until may, Therefore if you-all decide that the burner is bad then I will send it to the shop to be repaired/replaced.
#10
Even though the burner is internal, it it still possible that is not getting the proper power supply.
Before you condamn the burner, you need to find any firmware update. That is probably the first thing that they would ask you if you take the burner in and say it doesn't work. If new firmware and a variety of media don't work, I would take it in.

Thanks gang. I could not find any firmware updates. So I guess am going to take it in. My wireless card slot is haveing problems also, so it is a good time to get it worked on.

either output from dvd flick as files, then use imgburn on build mode to burn...

or convert your fat32 to ntsc using these commands http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307881

How to convert a FAT volume or a FAT32 volume to NTFS
Note Although the chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion is minimal, we recommend that you perform a backup of the data on the volume that you want to convert before you start the conversion.

To convert an existing FAT or FAT32 volume to NTFS, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert:
convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs
For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS:
convert e: /fs:ntfs
Note If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.
3. When you receive the following message at the command prompt, type the volume label of the drive that you are converting, and then press ENTER:
The type of the file system is FAT.
Enter the current volume label for drive drive letter
4. When the conversion to NTFS is complete, you receive the following message at the command prompt:
Conversion complete
5. Quit the command prompt.

Probably the only option is to convert from FAT32, or get something like Nero that will burn a Video folder(there might be some free applications like DeepBurner maybe). If you are using ImgBurn, even in build mode, and even if it doesn't save the ISO to HDD, it still needs to store bilt ISO in a temporary file while burning, right? Can that be possible on Fat32?
Why do people use the FAT one anyway?

Just another note to the mystery. I reinstalled nero7 on my machine just to see if it is the internal burner or program problem. I have burned 6 full DVDs with 0 coasters. It seems that the problem was either operator error or something else. any other clues? I would still rather use DVDflick and get rid of nero.

Hello,

I just have a question about the DVD FLICK when it flickers while it burns...is that normal? I mean, the whole window flickers, the words and everything, and the top of the window where it is yellow flickers partially black and I don't remember it doing that before. Is that from a bug or something or is it supposed to do that?

HA! well it is definitely not my graphics card, this computer is only a year old. I uninstalled it and then restarted the computer and reinstalled it and it did the same thing. I tried to burn the DVD and the audio was perfect but the video moved slower than normal. I tried to burn it again and it said that the IMG BURN needed to be updated, so I went to the website to download the new one, then I noticed "express burn" by an ad from google, and It was free, It works perfect! I had DVD FLICK for a year and it just wasn't cutting it anymore. Thanks though! by the way, the express has BLU-RAY and HD-DVD so, thanks for your comment though.
