hey guys i got a old pc that is Pentium 4 but i got a problem i installed windows xp professional on it but the colors are messed up. it only says 4 bits and doesn't go higher then that and the colors are all crappy. i also need drivers for that. THANKS IN ADVANCE
you need to find out the brand(nvidia or ati)and name (ati9600,geforce5200 etc) of your video card and it's socket (agp or pci). If you don't have any paperwork or manuals for the computer you might have to open it up (just make sure you unplug the computer first). Usually the video card will have the brand name and part number printed on it. If there is no video card installed than you have an integrated (built-in) video card. If you have a built-in video card write down the part number of your motherboard and download the latest video drivers for the motherboard. Your problem is definitely driver related but easy to fix.
Using hardware drivers from Windows Update is a band-aid approach, at best, and could actually mess the computer up more than it is already. Never use hardware drivers from Windows Update, if there are drivers available from the manufacturer of the hardware.
where can i find the number of the motherboard. i dont have a video card i tried to find it but i couldnt.
what is the make & model# of the computer or motherboard? make & model# of the motherboard will be printed on the board itself not on the chips. will say asus p4b533 or something like that.
