Check Sum Error/Stream Error

    Just decided to format my machine, i put the recovery disc in drive e: an reboot my machine.

    I press any key when it prompts me to do so, and it formats re-partitions my drive and then starts the installation, but gets part the way through and says chech sum error.

    Other times it will get to 100% an then say Stream Error.

    Problem is i now have no computer.

    Help please?

    Checksum errors usually indicate a dieing cmos batter (the watch-like battery on your motherboard). You could try taking it out and putting it back in, to clear the CMOS settings.

    Thanks for you're help. i replaced the battery but no diff.

    However i removed the ram that was installed shortly after i got the machine an that seems to have worked.
