Hi all, I have a Toshiba Equium A200-1V0 and am looking to connect it to a Samsung LCD with the following connections points 2 x HDMI ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) - rear 2 x SCART ( 21 PIN SCART ) - rear 1 x component video input ( RCA phono x 3 ) - rear 2 x audio line-in ( RCA phono x 2 ) - rear 1 x audio line-out ( RCA phono x 2 ) - rear 1 x VGA input ( 15 PIN HD D-Sub (HD-15) ) - rear 1 x audio line-in ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) - rear 1 x digital audio output (optical) ( TOS Link ) - rear 1 x S-Video input ( 4 PIN mini-DIN ) - side 1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) - side 1 x composite video/audio input ( RCA phono x 3 ) - side what is my best way to hook up for picture and sound as there's not an S-Video port on the laptop? thanks
It appears that your only option is to use the VGA connection. This will only provide picture, so if you need sound, you'll need to buy a cable that connects to the headphone jack on your laptop and then connect it to your TV.
Hi, i also have a Toshiba Equium A200 and a Samsung LCD, and i have tried to connect the pc to the tv via vga but i wont get it to work. Should i use the pc-mode on the tv? Which setting should i use? I would appreciate some help... Desperate! Thanks!
Not all TVs are the same, but most likely PC Mode will cause your TV to look for input on the VGA port. Also, you'll need to make sure that you have your laptop setup to use the VGA port. This can usually be accomplished by using a hot key, such as Function + F5. The keystroke varies from laptop to laptop. You can also accomplish this by going into your display settings and making sure that video is being sent to your external monitor (VGA or CRT depending on the video card). If you're trying to watch video, you usually need to have the signal sent only to the external monitor. Copy protection on most video software prevents it from being displayed on more than one monitor at a time. In this case, the screen on your laptop will be blacked out. Hopefully, this gets you headed in the right direction.
JoeC90, did you do any special setting and did you use the pc-mode? I still wont get it to work on my samsung. Tried to connect the computer to a friend´s LCD which had a VGA-mode and it worked perfect! What am i doing wrong?
