    Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Starview PVR, Which is now fully flashed with version 4.506 firmware. I have done the i 2007 and turned on the autoupdate and also used the NTHell codes from the thread on top of page one. When I do a scan for the channels 0 are found. I have tried a auto scan and a full scan.

I get 15 channels from NteaL from a cable coming from my wall - i do not have any other set top box from enTeaHell. I plug this cable into the top right input on the PVR in the gang of 4. The scan does not even find these 15 channels. Do these boxes work with this type of cable?

    I live in Wicklow town.

    Hi
You don't need to enter any codes into the PVR as it auto updates if you have it turned on.
Not sure about what system you have from NThell as I am in the UK and we only have digital cable package. Is it a Digital Cable feed package or Rooftop aerial feed? If you only had 15 channels previously I would assume a rooftop aerial? with a digital cable package you should get 100+ channels. If rooftop aerial you will need a Terrestial Receiver.

OK, youll have to dumb it down a level.

I'm fairly sure its not a rooftop aerial, In ireland you only get 4 channels over an aerial, I have sky one, mtv, eurosport, e4, sky news and the four irish channels and bbc 1, 2, itv and Channel 4.

    Hi
OK, I will have to put this one over to sc0user or Celtic71 for a little help, and learning on my behalf. They should be on later.
Like I say the setup here in uk is very different.
We only have 2 systems, (Terrestial supply from rooftop aerial) and (Cable supply from underground fibre optic cable) I can help on the working of the PVR if you are sucessfull in finding some channels.

    @sc0user @ VinWeasel
Thanks sc0user, thats what I thought with only having a few channels available.
@ VinWeasel Looks like you will have to look for a different STB Set Top Box or get Digital Cable Installed.

    Feck. Cheers anyway guys.

I wouldnt mind but i thought that would be the case. I only bought the box after a mate saying it would work, seeing confirmation of this on a different forum, An Fear Rua or something and seeing nobody else ask about this issue on this forum. Hopefully Ive saved a few people a few quid.

Incidentally, my box is now for sale. Obviously as it would be illegal to sell it with this software it shall be reverted to factory settings.

    Hi
Finally you should still get good money back for a PVR as they are good and very popular.

Does that mean 'The Box PVR' works in a different way to 'The Box II' when scanning channels?

I have an analogue feed from NTeaHell that gave me the ordinary 15 channels and when I connected 'The Box II' it picked up all the 100+ digital channels. However when I connect 'The Box PVR' to the same feed with the firmware updated to BoxPVR_E_v4500_06Jul.bin (I can't get the more recent firmware to uppack properly) it finds no channels...

It would seem that NTeaHell are feeding the full range of channels over the entire network and maybe it's an internal difference in the machines that is leaving the PVR blind, or maybe it's something in firmware that can be fixed, or maybe it's just something a couple of ua are doing wrong. :-$

    Hi
The Starview PVR will find what the Starview TheBox will.
Press Menu/Installation, when Cable Network highlighed use right arrow and try an Auto scan on the different providers or the one you think is supplying you. Also make sure you are in the Cable input socket (4 sockets together) and not the aerial input socket.

    I'm having the same problem.

Have the Box PVR with firmware version 3.100, 29 Jan 2008. (at least i think that's the firmware version!) I got this from: System Setup -> System Information

Anyway, I followed the steps outlined in the STARVIEW_PVR_STARTERS_GUIDE and The_Starview_PVR_Hard_Drive_installation_Guide
but I can only see the basic cabel channels. RTE1/2,TV3,SENTANTA IRE, e.t.c. (I'm in Dublin)

Do i need to set the EMU to on?

Oh yeah, the weird part...I have 'The Box' set up too, and it works fine, descrambling all the channels, so i guess the line is fine.

Another thing, I've read about this loop back cable needed for the twin tuner. I don't have this yet (my bro lost all the connections!!) I still should be able to see the channels with this though??

    Hi
Not too sure of the systems over in Dublin,(I'm in UK) is it rooftop aerial or cable supply?. Have a read back in this thread as someone else had only a few channels (Brought the wrong STB)
Sc0user or Celtic will get back to you when they read this and give you more info. (won't you Guys/Gals)?.

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for the reply.

Firstly, it is a cable line, not an aerial.

Secondly, when i do the i+2007, there is no EMU option, just the Nava' section and the Autoupdate ON/OFF. I set this to ON (which is the equivalent of EMU from what i understand of previous posts) but still no channels...

    Hi Celt
Yes, its just a bit confusing to me as the I don't
get any of the channels mention by Niall_c , here goes Niall_c

To Niall_c to start with :
Before doing a scan Goto Menu / Installation and make sure the (Cable Network Option) top item is set to your local provider if not correct it by using the right / Left arrow keys on your remote, then move down to Autoscan and wait till it has finished.
If channels not clearing goto Menu / System Setup / Press ok when the Parental Control line in yellow is highlighted then press i then 2007, this should take you the the CAS SYSTEM. (May need to do this a couple of times quite slowly with your remote to get into CAS SYSTEM) When you are there and Nagravision 1,11 is highlighted in Yellow Press ok, On the Provider ID Line select your provider by using the left/right arrow buttons on remote then press the LAST (load default)button on your remote, then the OK (Store) wait for it to save then press exit, exit. (Your provider needs to be the same as the one you selected in Cable Network Option above.
Finally make sure Autoupdate is On (This is the EMU) (Bottom Item in Cas System.) Got to a scrambled channel and wait.
