Apologies, first of all, if this is in the wrong forum. If so, I respectfully request for moderators to move this to appropriate forum. Also, if this subject has been dealt with before, kindly direct me there. Here's my problem: Due to a virus/trojan I recently had to reformat and re-install my OS. All was well, until now. When I open "My Computer" all icons are present and accounted for except the Local Disk icon. Instead I get the so-called "default" icon, and I am at a loss as to going about restoring my hd's icon. Can anyone help with this particular problem? Thanks in advance. In case you're wondering... This should be under Windows - General Discussion. I reported it, so it should be moved by a mod soon. As for your question, I'm not sure what you mean by "the default icon". Could you post a screenshot?
thanks, will try posting. addendum: this is what i meant. hope it helps you to understand my dilemma. also, as you can see (F actually displays an appropriate icon but not (G title changed to more accurately reflect the problem. edited to provide additional info and for spelling.
After extensive searching, I have found one solution that has allowed me to at least have an hard drive icon again by using a VBScript Script File. If interested, or if you need this as well, go here and look for number 237 "Change Hard Drive Icon in Explorer."
