Apologies, first of all, if this is in the wrong forum. If so, I respectfully request for moderators to move this to appropriate forum. Also, if this subject has been dealt with before, kindly direct me there.

Here's my problem: Due to a virus/trojan I recently had to reformat and re-install my OS. All was well, until now. When I open "My Computer" all icons are present and accounted for except the Local Disk icon. Instead I get the so-called "default" icon, and I am at a loss as to going about restoring my hd's icon.

Can anyone help with this particular problem? Thanks in advance.

    In case you're wondering...

    NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 w/128MB
    WD 160GB Hard Drive

This should be under Windows - General Discussion. I reported it, so it should be moved by a mod soon.

As for your question, I'm not sure what you mean by "the default icon". Could you post a screenshot?

After extensive searching, I have found one solution that has allowed me to at least have an hard drive icon again by using a VBScript Script File. If interested, or if you need this as well, go here and look for number 237 "Change Hard Drive Icon in Explorer."
