I bought a new Pc for gameing . It has a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600ghz 2.40 GHz Proccesor

    3071 Mb of ddr2 Ram

ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro Graphics Card .

Im running Windows vista Home Premium , have Norton anti virus running while gameing .

When I play the Witcher ,Gears of War or Oblivion at 1900x1200 .I get a lot of screen tearing during cut scenes . During game play it gets choppy sometimes , and dosent play as smoothly as I would like .

Should my pc be able to handle these games better ? I thought it would as there is a lot of power , Or is my pc ok and I just need a a better videocard ? Anyone know a software app I could use to check to see im my pcs performance is ok ?

First I would make sure that you have the latest video drivers. Sometimes that can make a big difference. If you still have issues then I would see what happens if you play it in a lower res like 1680x1050 or 1440x900. If it plays at an acceptable frame rate without tearing then, I would suspect the video card since the HD 2600 is a mid range card.

I have the latest Drivers , I tried playing at 1200 x 800 and it played smoothly the cut scenes on the witcher still have a lot of tearing , but the game play is fine .

try to use the highest refresh rate of your monitor. go to display settings, and click advanced settings. go to the monitor tab, and you will see the refresh rates. click on "hide modes monitor cannot display" and then look at the list. choose the highest one, and apply.

if you can, try to get a HD3850 or HD3870 to replace your HD2600pro.
