I just received my DS Fire Card in the mail. I updated the firmware properly. The firmware updated successfully and it prompted me to reboot the DS. I did, tried to start the card again, and I just get a white screen on both screens.

It does the same thing whether I have the Slot 2 USB inserted or not.

    What can I do?

Try holding Start+Select when loading the card to do a full format, then connect it back to a computer and reload the firmware onto the card.

Start+Select before I press A to start the card?

Push A to load the card but immediately hold start+select after pressing A. It might work if you hold start+select then press A (while still holding start+select) but i've never tried.

I was able to BOOT directly into USB mode by Start+Select+A+B+Down,

but now my PC will not recognize the card. I get an error when I try to open the card. Is my card corrupted?

Yes it is likely corrupted which is why I recommended doing a format.

NOTE that you should not format the card with your computer.

Ok. I tried the Start+Select that you suggested and the Start+Select+A+B+Down that the company suggests. Neither of them changed the white screen I got. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for replying so quickly

When you chose Start+Select did it actually do anything? As a full format would take a long time to complete (over 30 mins) so based on the time it took you to reply I assume it did not? (it would come up with text saying it is formatting)

I think there is another combo to the one you used which is Start+Select+A+B+up however I cannot remember what it does, so it might be worth a shot anyway.

No matter the combo, the white screen stays, I do not get any kind of prompt.

THE ONLY prompt I get is a message that says:

    USB SAFE BLOCK D14(ADDR5)

It pops up on my PC when I have the USB hooked up, but It will not read the card.

Any other combo of button pressing has not worked.

I think that means you need to write the main loader to the card, there should be instructions on how to do it in your firmware download (involves running a .bat file of some kind), i'm looking for my fire card so i can be some more help but I can't seem to find it (my fire card is my least-used card).

I have tried on 3 separate PCs with the Red letter USB mode. None of the PCs can open the Drive now. One PC tells me to Insert a Drive, and the other two PCs say there is an I/O error.

I've never come across that problem before, I am unsure what you could do now.

Try pulling all the carts/cables out and sticking it all back in, I've found that fixes an occasional connection problem I got with my fire card (though windows never showed that error).

If all else fails you should just assume it is faulty and return it to the webstore you purchased it from.

If you do manage to get the "USB SAFE BLOCK D14(ADDR5)" message to appear again you need to run the file "NAND_ALL.bat" in the firmware download to write the loader to the card, reboot the DS, and then enter USB mode and copy over xmenu.dat

Hello I'm having a simmilar problem with my ds fire card. I was stupid and deleted the xmenu. I know how to fix that but thats not the real problem. When ever i go to the usb mode to put the xmenu on a little thing near my taskbar say that the usb device has malfunctned. I have full formated it and quick formated it. When i go to the menu i get two white screens and a error: Open xmenu.dat error. What can i do to fix this and get it running?
