Windows XP start up problem (every other time)

    Ok guys, I thank you all in advance for your help.

    Here is the deal. I have a fresh install of windows ever since building a new PC. What happens every now and then, and more often now is that windows seems to stop loading after the splash screen. But again, this does not happen all the time, only once in a while. All drivers are new and updated, running Geforce 8800GT on P5E mobo.

    This is one weird problem.

    Any help is appreciated

    Try to disable the boot-screen. It will take up less resources.

    im no expert but i would look through event viewer at the times it happens and see if there is any related errors.
