    hello
    thanks for your reply
yes I am using good quality dvd
    testing on standalone dvd
it was convertxdvd that gave me the response
and yes the avi plays perfectly
perhaps I should use another program to convert from avi.
    i am using vista
    thanks again

ConvertX works fine on vista, but the burning engine is broken.

You have a couple of choices.. Set convertX to make a folder with files, and burn that as dvd files with nero, or forget convertx and use dvd flick and imgburn pairing which work a treat ;)

thanks again i have just converted the avi file using dvdflick as you suggested and it worked great

In my destination folder there is
    with bup files ifo files
    and
    vob files

I will now burn with imgburn but before i do a question
do I burn all the files or
    just the vob files

all files, and also if dvd flick worked just to files/folders then prolly convertxtodvd would do the same and work, it was just the burning part not playing ball.

    imgburn = MODE / BUILD
