Trying to convert an avi file using dvdsanta "unable to process video get correct codec"

i am trying to convert an avi file using dvdsanta but when i preview the immage it says

unable to process video get the correct codec

any ideas ?

Run the AVI through GSpot. It should tell you which codec is needed, then get and install it.

it says Codec(s) are Installed but i get the same message when i try to preview the file
