I currently have a HP dv9428nr laptop loaded with vista home premium. I have looked at several different sites on the topic of setting up an AD HOC connection, which i can do successfully. My problem though is that no matter what I do, I can't seem to do file sharing across it. Despite what the websites say. I check network tab in windows explorer, and all I see is my comp name name in there, no one elses. Same thing happens if i connect to a router. I have selected all the folders/drives i want to share, and I even selected full access to the files. But alas, still nothing. Can someone please tell me what I may be doing wrong.

Check your firewall settings. Easiest test is to simply turn it off and see if you can access the files.
