hey guys i am new to this thread. I have been reading alot of posts and this site helped me out alot, but now im stuck.

I just upgraded my computer from 512 ram to 2 gb ram

Used to backup a ton of dvds with decryptor and shrink.
It was freezing alot though. The ram took care of that although something new just popped up.

For 3 months i have never ever had a problem burning.
I burn at a 16 x rate with nero and use memorex dvd rs
Now the burn process fails sometimes

Should i take the writing speed down to 12 x or 8 x? Will it make the quality any less better? Will it just take longer??
    Please help

    Thanks

These are horrible discs, they are so inconsistent in their manufacture and it's not unusual to find a batch that causes problems...also it's recommended to burn no faster than 4X....especially with these discs.

    ok, thanks. Couple more questions

    1) what is the best type of blank media to use

    2) I went to change drive speed on nero and lowered it to 8x but after im done encoding it still burns at 16x, how do i change that

3)Does burn speed affect quality of disc, or is it just the time it takes to burn??

    Thanks
